What makes a neighborhood desirable? That is very much dependent upon the person or family. Today’s pick city is Birmingham and it has many qualities to boast about. You just have to decide if they speak to you.
Sandwiching the Woodward Corridor between 14 Mile and Quarton, Birmingham has been one of the most sought after cities for many years running. And for many good reasons. It’s centrality to throughways and freeways makes it an easy place to come home to and get to wherever you want to go without traversing lots of side streets to do so. But before you even leave your house, there’s much to discover. Birmingham is home to Old Woodward. You’ll find restaurants, salons, yoga studios, clothing boutiques, furniture stores, sports stores, jewelers, movie theaters, there really is just too much to list. Plus, you can find a parking deck and park there for two full hours for free. It’s home to many beautiful parks where you’ll find festivals and art shows, even Santa and his reindeer come to Birmingham.
To know if it’s really for you, test it out. Spend a Saturday strolling the sidewalks. Window shop. Have a meal. Sit outside on one of the many outdoor patios and people watch.
