A little bit about Clawson

At just over two square miles in area Clawson and roughly 12,015 residents (according to the 2015 Census estimates and the SEMCOG Community Profile), we are one of the smallest communities in Southeastern Michigan and a first thought may be that not much could be happening in such a small place. A lot would be missed, though, by making that assumption. Exploring Clawson by foot is an easy and comfortable stroll or better yet following the well-directed bike path with a friend will take you through quiet neighborhoods and to many points of interest. A large, wonderfully appointed city park may be the highlight of your bike ride. There are plenty of picnic spots with tables and barbeque grills. An exercise path winds through the park by tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, shuffleboard lanes and swinging chairs built for two (or three). Nearby are the football field and track along with baseball and soccer fields.

On your way, you’ll pass by beautiful Blair Memorial Library and Historical Museum both of which are full of interesting diversions and intriguing information. Park your bike for a little window shopping and visit the many fine shops in downtown. More shopping and dining is nearby in the neighboring communities. Stop for a bite to eat or a snack or something for your sweet tooth. Activities are easy to find especially during the warmer months. Catch an afternoon outdoor concert-in-the-park, visit the Clawson Farmer’s Market, take a garden tour, and do not miss one of the most exciting 4th of July parades and fireworks in Michigan.
